When Ngoc and Leminh Tran of Hanoi Jane (http://hanoijane.co.uk/) asked me if I would be free to shoot their launch collection, I jumped at the chance to work with them. The sisters are so creative and speak with such enthusiasm about what they do, then having seen their dresses and the work that  goes into them I knew it would turn out to be a fantastic shoot.

After discussions and emails to and throw to each other we’d decided on the type of location and the direction of the shoot. The location would be The Alamo warehouse in the jewellery quarter – courtesy of Danny Kane of If… u want it (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4312892809&ref=ts).

The warehouse is pretty raw and edgy but still comfortable and had good facilities, enough for the girls to get ready in. It also had lots of areas which all contrasted each other really well, I could see they would all work amazingly with the Hanoi Jane collection. The date was set and soon the shoot was upon us! Myself, the designers Mini & Ngoc and their two models Jess and Chloe arrived at the warehouse and as the models got hair and makeup I set up my lighting, camera and laptop. Starting on the first floor we worked our way down, shooting even on the stairs, to the ground floor which is more basement like. We managed to get through 10 outfits in just 4 hours or so pretty good going! We all worked really well as a team and it shows I think in the final images. I was so pleased with the shoot there were so many good photos to choose from, the ultimate decision was with Hanoi Jane to make though as the images will be the face of the designing duo until their next collection is ready to shoot.

ABOUT HANOI JANE

Hanoi Jane offers a personal service in bespoke clothing completely made to measure. We also specialise in Ladies clothing alterations, garment re-modelling and style advice.

We are Ngoc Tran and Leminh Tran and apart from being sisters we share a love of fashoin, chocolate and more fashion.

Leminh graduated from London College of Fashion with a BA Hons Degree in Product Design and Development  clothing pathway .  While I found my feet in the world of creative computer aided design and making clothes as a hobby. Leminh spent nearly a year at Alexander McQueen working with new designs, alteration and making prototype pieces for his Paris Fashion Week collection in 2007.

We have spent many years making clothes as a hobby, for friends and family, the business became a serious pursuit as Leminh moved back from London to Birmingham. We now beleive the time is right to pursue our dream of having our own clothing label. All our items are hand cut and made by ourselves here in England.
